Before You Book

Questions We Get Asked Most

Everything you need to know to feel confident before your first conversation with us.

How do I start the booking process with Migada Adventures?

Fill in the Safari Blueprint on this page — it takes under three minutes and tells us your travel style, party size, and preferred dates. One of our local specialists will review your answers and send you a personalised draft itinerary within 24 hours. There is no commitment at this stage, just a conversation to understand what you are looking for. You can also reach us directly on WhatsApp or email if you prefer to start with a quick chat.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking at least 6–9 months ahead, especially for travel during peak season (July–October) or over major holidays. The finest lodges and camps in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro fill quickly, and early booking gives us the greatest flexibility to secure your preferred accommodation and dates. Last-minute bookings are sometimes possible — contact us and we will do our best.

Are your safaris completely private?

Yes — entirely. Every Migada Adventures safari is fully private: your own vehicle, your own guide, your own schedule. You will never share a game drive with strangers. This means drives start when you are ready, go where you want, and linger as long as the sighting calls for it. Privacy is not an upgrade with us — it is how every safari is designed.

Can you cater for special dietary requirements, including Kosher?

Absolutely. We cater to all dietary requirements — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, and Kosher. Migada Adventures has significant experience arranging Kosher safaris, including sourcing pre-sealed Kosher meals for camps where on-site preparation is not available. Please let your specialist know your requirements when we begin planning so we can arrange everything ahead of time.

Is safari suitable for families with young children?

Yes — Tanzania is a wonderful family destination. We tailor the experience entirely around your family's ages and interests, selecting family-friendly camps, adjusting game drive timing, and weaving in educational experiences for younger travellers. Many luxury lodges welcome children of all ages. We generally recommend a minimum age of 6 for most game drives; share your children's ages with us and we will design accordingly.

What health preparations should I make before travelling?

We recommend visiting a travel health clinic at least 6–8 weeks before departure. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly advised for Tanzania. Yellow Fever vaccination may be required depending on your routing through other countries. Routine vaccinations (Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid) are also recommended. Your Migada specialist will provide a health advisory note as part of your pre-departure briefing pack.

What travel documents will I need?

You will need a valid passport with at least 6 months validity beyond your return date, a Tanzania visa or eVisa, and your travel insurance details. If travelling with children where not all parents are present, a notarised consent letter may be required. Some nationalities also require proof of Yellow Fever vaccination. We review all documentation requirements with you well ahead of your departure date.

Do you handle airport transfers and flights between parks?

Yes — we arrange everything from your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) to your final departure, including road and light aircraft transfers between parks, and all inter-camp logistics. Domestic flights between Arusha and the parks or Zanzibar are typically included or offered as an add-on. You simply arrive — we handle every detail from that point forward.

Can I make changes to my itinerary after booking?

Yes. We build flexibility into every booking because we understand that plans can shift. Adjustments prior to the final payment date can generally be accommodated at no extra charge. Changes closer to departure are subject to individual lodge and supplier terms, which we explain clearly in your booking agreement. Our team is available throughout the entire process — before, during, and after your safari.

What should I pack for a Tanzania safari?

Pack lightweight, neutral-coloured clothing — khaki, olive, tan, and cream. Avoid bright colours and blue tones, which can attract tsetse flies. Essentials: a wide-brim hat, SPF 50+ sunscreen, DEET-based insect repellent, binoculars, a camera with a zoom lens, a warm layer for cool early-morning drives, and comfortable closed-toe shoes. Luggage should be soft-sided for light aircraft transfers between camps. Your Migada specialist will send a full personalised packing list as part of your pre-departure briefing.

What is the Great Migration and when does it happen?

The Great Migration is the largest overland wildlife movement on earth — over 1.5 million wildebeest, 300,000 zebra, and hundreds of thousands of gazelle following rainfall and fresh grazing across the Serengeti ecosystem. It is a year-round cycle: calving season in the southern Serengeti (December–March), the northward trek through the central Serengeti (April–June), and the dramatic Mara River crossings in the north (July–October), where enormous crocodiles lie in wait. We align your dates to whichever chapter of the Migration matters most to you.

Do I need a visa to visit Tanzania?

Most nationalities require a visa to enter Tanzania. We strongly recommend applying for an eVisa online before you travel — it is straightforward and avoids any airport delays. Apply directly through the official Tanzania Immigration portal: visa.immigration.go.tz ↗. Visa on Arrival is also available at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and Dar es Salaam's Julius Nyerere Airport (DAR). Your Migada specialist will confirm the exact requirements for your nationality well before departure.

What safari combinations make for a richer East African experience?

Tanzania pairs beautifully with several destinations. The most popular combinations are: Tanzania + Zanzibar (beach after the bush — perfect contrast), Tanzania + Kenya (follow the full arc of the Great Migration across both countries), Tanzania + Rwanda (mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park), and Tanzania + Uganda (chimpanzee tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest). We operate across East Africa and can design a seamless multi-country journey around your interests and timeframe.

Is Tanzania safe to visit?

Tanzania is widely regarded as one of Africa's most stable, welcoming, and safe travel destinations. The national parks are well managed and well patrolled. All game drives are conducted in private 4WD vehicles with experienced, licensed guides following strict safety protocols. Incidents involving safari guests in Tanzania's parks are extremely rare. As with any international travel, basic awareness in city areas is sensible — your Migada specialist will brief you fully on what to expect at every stage of your journey.
